Common in forested landscapes at all elevations in King, Kitsap, and Kittitas Counties. Utilizes open, shrubby habitats such as regenerating clearcuts, forest edge, and avalanche chutes. Absent as breeder in eastside steppe zone and from western lowlands where trees extensively cleared for settlement. Migrants in such areas may linger into mid-June.
