Introduced from Europe. Abundant throughout our area in virtually all habitats except dense, continuous forest, hence mostly absent in montane zones. Nearly all BBA records at higher elevation occurred along highway corridors. Most common in developed and agricultural areas. Aggressive nester, competing with native species for natural cavities in snags and cliffs and man-made cavities such as provided nest boxes.
